Here is the latest from Monday's doctor appointment (even though it is now Friday and who knows how much things have changed since then, hopefully).
Your heart rate sounded great. We are now about 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. The doctor said that he didn't really expect us to make it to our next Monday appointment (although I am now seriously questioning that call!!). Who knows though, maybe you were waiting for Friday the 13th! Which also happens to be your Papa's birthday. He actually informed me this morning that he would like a grandson for his birthday... so let's get right on that, shall we?
Other than that, everything looked great and we are just waiting. Still ticking away! I had gained two pounds, but that seems to have stopped going up since my appointment... despite the chocolate fest I participated in last night.

Officially Full Term!!
and here is the 37 Week update...
This week I have actually been able to focus and get things done at work. Odd! Of course, that still doesn't mean that I am happy to be here! I have been walking on a daily basis (in hopes of encouraging your decent with gravitational pull). I have been having an impossible time getting a good nights sleep. Not because I am miserable or uncomfortable. I just cannot completely fall asleep. I just fade in and out of consciousness all night. Which results in utter exhaustion and the need for naps during the day. Every morning I wake up and thinking, "drats, I didn't go into labor during the night." I spend all of my moments analyzing every feeling and wondering if today will be the day. Thinking that now that I am in the 37 week, it has to be anytime. (Austin came at 37 weeks and 3 days). Which reminds me... you are now considered by all experts to be "full term". Hooray!! That means you can come any day now and we would all be happy :)
Really though, I am not at all miserable or uncomfortable (although there are some moments here and there), but I am done. I am ready to meet you and hold you and maybe be a little less emotional and crazy! Maybe!
This past weekend we had a baby shower. It was so sweet and we received so many necessities (diapers, bottles, clothes, fun stuff, etc.). Thank you Rylee, Mesha and Lauren (and everyone that came and/or helped)!! I really feel like we are ready and I am so excited that there are so many amazing people in our life. There was also a shower at work and we got a nice little Babies-R-Us gift card... which I am more than ready to go spend!

Weekly Updates (36 Weeks)
Clearly I have fallen behind on my weekly updates. Not only that, but I didn't even post about my doctor's appointment this week. I have been such a slacker!
First things first... 36 and 37 week updates! (I will post the picture at a later date and time. My camera is now in the hospital bag, in the car, waiting for delivery day)
36 Weeks
I posted some during that week after my doctor's appointment, so there is not a whole lot that I can think of that needs to be re-mentioned. Really, I am reflecting back and I think I mentioned pretty much everything worth mentioning. This was a pretty uneventful week as far as I could tell with us. Lots of braxton hicks which are completely painless I am horrible at timing... not that it really matters because clearly I have not spontaneously gone into labor while not counting them! Absolutely no ability to concentrate while at work! That about sums it up... you are just getting bigger and stronger and hopefully about ready to make your appearance. Oh, and you are still able to move around plenty, especially your feet on my right side.
Updated March 26: Here is the 36 week picture!

Splat!
I am always the first to admit just how clumsy I am. I am not quite sure where I got the gene from, but I know I passed it on to Austin. Hopefully you are lucky and do not get it.
Anyhow, of all the clumsy things I have done in my life, I feel like today probably takes the cake. And I completely blame your father for the incident. I think he owes me big time later!
Here is the recap:
~ Getting ready to leave the house the morning your father informs me that I am to change my shoes immediately. I absolutely should not be wearing heels at 37 weeks pregnant and we had gone to buy flats early on when I kept almost falling down the stairs for a reason. Besides that, I was on my way to the doctor and all the other pregnant women would think I was a fool.
~ I get huffy and ticked off and go on about how I already feel like an ugly cow and flats make me feel even more ugly. But I change into them and leave.
~ Fast forward to lunch time. My back has been bothering me sitting at my desk, and it is beautiful outside, and I am so ready to have you, and you are getting close (that update to come later) and so a walk would be good for me. So off I go.
~ A few blocks later, I am back in front of my office building, the streets are buzzing with gym goers, smokers and people heading to lunch and right at the corner in front of my building, my abnormally long foot (because I am wearing flats) hits a raised pave stone and sends me flying forward.
~ Normally I am excellent at catching myself mid fall because as I mentioned before, I am naturally clumsy. Not today, the stupid shoes offered no traction and I landed SPLAT on the pave stones.
~ I now have beautifully scratched up and bruised palms, knees and ego. Luckily my belly (you) avoided impact.
~ I rush to the other side of the building and begin crying and calling your father. At which time two men come and ask me if I am okay or if I need medical attention. Not sure if they saw the fall or just me crying, but that made it even more embarrassing!
~ Instead of a couple people MAYBE thinking I was crazy or brave at the doctors office... I had hundreds of passersby see me make a complete fool of myself.
Moral of the story... father does not know best!

Tick Tick Tick
So many updates today! I am apologizing in advance for the long post!
- I spent the entire weekend cleaning like a mad woman! I will typically straighten over the weekends, but I don’t like to do full blown cleaning when I could be spending time with my boys. So I usually save the cleaning for my Fridays off. And then I will pick a few things and knock them out. This weekend, I did every load of laundry that was literally filling the closet to the brim (this is no small feat… really, this alone is MAJOR). I cleaned the kitchen (a couple times), playroom (twice), bedrooms, vacuumed all rooms, swept the floors, swifer mopped the living room, cleaned the master bathroom, and mowed the backyard! I was basically going behind everyone cleaning all weekend. And somehow still had time to get in plenty of bonding with family and friends. If that isn't nesting, I don’t know what is! All that is left is cleaning the baseboards and blinds, toilets, and mopping the kitchen. I wouldn’t mind touching up the paint in certain areas of the house, but that is probably getting carried away :)
- Daddy put together the labor playlist!! I am very excited about this little surprise. And it has been loaded to the fully charged iPod and put in the hospital bag, which is now in my car and ready for delivery day… whenever that may be!
- Those little pangs I mentioned on Friday… I had a couple major, stop-me-in-my-tracks in the middle of Walmart kind of ones yesterday. And I have been having them more ever since my appointment this morning. Still not sure if they mean too much, BUT…
- Since I was 2 cm dilated at my appointment this morning, it is very possible that they might be associated! Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything… I could be 2 cm dilated for hours or weeks… it is really up in the air at this point. So here we are, waiting like a ticking time bomb!! When am I going to blow?!
- Beyond being excited about the progress and the possibility of meeting you soon, we got to see you! You are without a doubt, still a boy! I have a very convincing ultrasound picture to prove it! You are 5 lbs. 15 oz. (with a 20% margin of error according to the doctor), and the crazy part… you have hair. Like, hair that we could see on the ultrasound and the tech felt compelled to point out! From what we could see of your face, you look a lot like Austin did. I can’t wait to see if that is the case or not! (Look sideways to see your face, your hand is almost in the way)

- Other than that… group B strep test was painless and easy. Who knows when those results will be in… probably tomorrow, but I didn’t think to ask! They will probably only let me know if it is positive.
- I have gained 4 pounds in about 2 weeks. The weird thing about that is that it happened within a couple of days, and then stopped. Hopefully I have hit the plateau and we are set until you make your grand entrance! If so, 36 pounds is completely acceptable in my book! (much better than the 65+) But the concerns I had last week were completely dispelled this morning when my pee stick was fine and my blood pressure was perfect.
- Warning… too much information! Skip this part if you do not want to hear about some of the more disgusting parts of pregnancy…
I have also had some interesting discharge since the appointment. Before the appointment I had been noticing some occasional mucous-like stuff, but just tiny amounts (mentioned to the doctor, he said it is the plug breaking up). Since then, I have had spotting and then I started noticing blood-tinged mucous-like stuff. More than the little amounts previously mentioned to the doctor. Just spotting after an internal appointment is normal, but the other stuff is likely more related to the mucous plug breaking up… which is another sign of pending labor. BUT… like all the other signs, could mean hours or weeks!
Okay it is safe again!!
- Like I said… ticking time bomb! Doctor said that as far as he is concerned, I am full term and you are welcome to come anytime. However, he would rather you not come this weekend because he isn’t on call and we would have to go to the crowded hospital that is not our first choice during an apparently busy baby birthing month. He is also not available March 20-22.
- One thing that I have not thought through yet is how I would get me and my car (mainly the hospital bags from my car) to the hospital if I happen to go into labor while at work!! Let’s cross my fingers I am at home or somewhere with Daddy when it happens!!
- There is also the shower that is scheduled for Saturday. I guess we can always improvise if necessary? Maybe everyone would like to come to the house to meet baby instead?! Only time will tell on this one!
Needless to say, this morning has been very eventful and now my mind is not on work! Can’t wait to update as more happens! Our next appointment is Monday at 8 am.

Weekly Update (35 Weeks)
I knew I should have waited to get that massage. Because now I am having days where my back is just killing me. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining, it is completely worth it and I would take back pain every single day of my pregnancy if it was necessary (though I absolutely do not want that... please don't let that happen)!! I am actually starting to notice a trend. The last workday of the week this week and last week has been plagued with back pain. Is it my body begging for the weekend to be here?
Or is it because you are tightening up like a rock in there non-stop these days? It is actually everything around you tightening up and it is called Braxton Hicks. Which are nothing like I expected them to be. I had it in my head that these would be just like real contractions, but not consistent. Nope, they are completely painless and have been occurring pretty much all day every day lately.
I have been extremely bad about taking my weekly picture this week (and last week). Mostly because I don't feel like digging through the laundry and washing those green shorts. However, I did take a picture last week in a different outfit. And as I have been mentioning in recent posts I took maternity pictures last night! I am extremely excited about them and cannot wait to see and post them.
Ever since we finished those, I have felt this peace. Oh, and the items I was waiting on to arrive in the mail came yesterday too. It is weird though, because today my stomach has been doing the rock thing even more than normal and I got this weird feeling that I should call your Daddy and have him put the bag in the truck this morning, "just in case." And I have felt a few weird pangs down there (I am not sure how to describe to where it makes sense). I am sure I am just getting antsy and will probably be looking back on this post in 4 or 5 weeks thinking, "man was I off!!"
The only thing that isn't done yet is the playlist. I know, I know. But there is kind of a reason for that. I decided that it would be very sweet and special if Daddy created the playlist. We have very different tastes in music, but I think that he will do an awesome job and I imagine that there will be a good mix of songs that have sentimental value that will bring a tear to my eye, a smile to my face, or even get a good laugh out of me when I need it most and pull us even closer while going through the delivery process. He is kind of procrastinating though... hopefully I haven't put too much pressure on him!
Let's see... you are still strengthening those lungs to get ready to make your presence known. And you are supposedly over five pounds now. Hopefully we will have a better idea on Monday morning, although those ultrasounds can be so off. Like I mentioned early this week, I have gained a few extra pounds this week, so you might be more than five pounds now!!
Speaking of, the sudden weight gain, combined with a trace of protein in my pee last appointment had me a little worried about pre-eclampsia. The nurse said my blood pressure has been fine, so I shouldn't worry. I checked my blood pressure that night and it wasn't in the questionable range, so I haven't put anymore thought to it. Just thought I would mention that since it was on my mind and we can both look back later and reflect on how crazy and paranoid Mommy was.
That should about cover it for now... until Monday!!! And I promise I will post a new picture on this post later tonight or this weekend :)

Less Than 1 Week
...until my ultrasound! I am very excited and cannot wait (if it isn't obvious). The only thing that would be better is if you decided to come before then! But after Thursday (pictures).
Shopping on Friday was a total bust, which had me down. I couldn't find the pump kit that I was aiming to buy at any stores and I couldn't find reasonably priced (translation = CHEAP) nursing bras and tanks anywhere. I am sure I looked funny walking around the mall because it felt like you were trying to push your way out! So after spending the morning and afternoon walking the mall, Babies-R-Us and Walmart (unrelated shopping), I headed home in defeat. I even passed on going to Target because I was so distraught.
I got online and found everything I was looking for (at prices I was willing to pay) and placed my orders. I then crossed my fingers that everything would arrive before you!! So far, so good! Somehow the pump kit arrived yesterday (fastest shipping ever, that seller gets a gold star from me) and the bras/tanks will be here on Thursday!
I am especially excited because the pump kit that I bought works with the hospital grade pump here at work for when I return from maternity leave, but it also works as a manual pump for when I am at the hospital or out somewhere (mostly in the beginning when engorged and uncomfortable) AND all the parts work with the double pump that I purchased with Austin. So if I need a pump while still at home or in the evenings, I am covered. (The dogs previously ate everything except the motor for that one).
Saturday morning I finally went out and bought the letters for your wall. I had pretty much decided there was no rush for that since you won't be in the nursery in the beginning, but I did it! AND, I even painted them and put them on the wall!! To top it all off, I finally went and bought the paint I needed to finish Austin's room... that is about where my energy fizzled out though! I realized that I needed to finish taping and I would have to get up on a tall chair or ladder and that didn't seem like a good idea, so his room is still in waiting mode!
I feel completely ready and anxious now. Of course, I have stopped having the bad back pain and any contraction-like symptoms. Figures that once I have it in my head that I am ready, all indication I am running out of time halts! Oh well, we are ready whenever you are little one!
I can't really think of any other updates, so that is all until our weekly update tomorrow!
Oh, I lied! I just remembered one other thing that is new and has me thrown off. I have been doing awesome (for me) as far as weight gain this entire pregnancy. And these last few weeks I have been gaining the suggested pound a week. But in the past couple days I have put on four pounds. I am not sure what is going on or if I should be concerned by that, but it definitely has me puzzled.
Okay, now I am done!

Still Cooking
The back pain subsided for the early evening, long enough to get things in order and do dinner. Afterwards while sitting on the couch watching Private Practice, folding your little bitty laundry and chatting with Daddy and Terra, it started up again.
Daddy was reminded of the events leading up to Austin's birth, and even though I tried to reassure them both that it was probably nothing, they demanded I get my hospital bag ready.
I was up most of the evening preparing my bag, printing out final birth plans, etc. And I can now say that I am ready. Mostly!
I finally went to bed and slept through the night without incident. Woke up, and so far I am feeling fine. Hopefully you decide to cook a little longer!
Austin and I are going to get a couple must-haves today. Other than that, I just need to do the play list, but I can't find my cord!! We might end up jamming to whatever is on there now, which Daddy isn't too keen on!
Oh and I just hooked the car seat up in my car and added the mirror. All set on that front! Just need Daddy to tighten it up!

Birth Plan (Final)
I'd like the following people to be present during labor and/or birth:
Partner: Ben
Relatives: Janet and my Mom (Dr. La approved)
I'd also like:
To bring music
To dim the lights if possible
To take pictures and/or film immediately after delivery
Once I'm admitted, I'd like:
My partner to be allowed to stay with me at all times
Only my practitioner, nurse, and guests present (i.e., no residents, medical students, etc.)
To walk and move around as I choose
I'd like to try the following pain-management techniques:
Breathing techniques/distraction
Massage
Please don't offer me pain medication. I'll request it if I need it.
If I decide I want medicinal pain relief, I'd prefer:
Regional analgesia (an epidural)
When it's time to push, I'd like to:
Be coached on when to push and for how long
I'd like to try the following positions for pushing (and birth):
Semi-reclining
Side-lying position
Or whatever feels right at the time
I'd like:
To view the birth using a mirror if available (I think)
After birth, I'd like:
My partner to cut the umbilical cord
To hold my baby right away, putting off any procedures that aren't urgent
To breastfeed as soon as possible
If I have to have a c-section, I'd like:
My partner present at all times during the operation
The screen lowered a bit so I can see my baby coming out
The baby given to my partner as soon as he's dried - as long as he's in good health
To breastfeed my baby as soon as possible
After delivery, I'd like:
Austin brought in to see me and meet the new baby as soon as possible after the birth
I plan to:
Breastfeed exclusively
The following can be offered to my baby:
Please don't offer anything to my baby without my okay
I'd like my baby fed:
On a schedule (preferably)
I'd like:
My baby to room-in with me only when I'm awake
If my baby's a boy:
I'd like him circumcised at the hospital.

A Reason for My Crabbiness?
It has become very apparent to me today that something is not right. Mind you, it might be completely in my head, but something is off.
Example 1 - I am getting horrible back pains that make me incredibly uncomfortable. I noticed it on the bus this morning and it has continued all day. What I did not realize (until marvelous Mimi pointed it out) was that it isn't constant. It comes and goes - like contractions. Crap, that is potentially a bad sign!!
Example 2 - NO ABILITY TO FOCUS. I have been having trouble focusing lately, don't get me wrong. But today takes the cake, by far. I have been up and down, at co-workers desks, eating, blogging, emailing, absolutely anything that is not what I need to be doing. Not that I can even recall what I actually need to be doing right now.
Example 3 - I am jittery as all get out. My word, I drink at least one Diet Dr. Pepper a day typically (if my doctor happens to be reading this, ignore the "at least") and I have a cup of coffee a couple times a week. My body is used to caffeine, no biggie. Yet today I have been rambling on and my mind going a million miles a minute, all on about a 1/4 can of Diet Dr. Pepper. Obviously this doesn't help with the focusing. Unless of course I was a professional blogger, because I seem to be able to come up with more topics than I am willing to bug my readers with and I could literally ramble on all day today. Be it via blog, email, IM, phone, you name... you should probably try to avoid interacting with me today just to be safe!!
What in tarnation is going on (yes, I just said tarnation... run, FAST)?!
I am very hopeful this is not anything real. Please be in my head!!! I have not packed my stupid hospital bags yet and I would REALLY like to have a chance to get maternity pictures this time around (and they are scheduled for next week, which should be plenty early enough). I did however throw the car seat into my car this morning! Didn't hook it up though. But it is there... mostly because (as I mentioned earlier) we are having dinner guests and it was just sitting in the entry driving me nuts when I opened the door. Did I mention that we have enough birthdays today?! And I haven't done my playlist! We need to wait just a couple more weeks!
There is the back pain again... trying to time it out now.
P.S. If (BIG IF) this does have anything to do with labor... I think that would mean it is back labor, and you can completely ignore my request to go without the epidural. I will absolutely have the epidural if I am having back labor!

Another Venting Post
Sometimes a hormonal woman just needs to say what she is thinking!
- Would I be a terrible person if I (just once) responded "I'm not pregnant" to someone when they look at me and ask when I am due? The thought always crosses my mind as I am walking away after politely telling them the end of March, but then I remind myself that it would be an ugly thing to do.
I would not be doing it to be mean, it just seems like it might be amusing! It really doesn't bother me that people ask. I remember being antsy for the day when my stomach was big enough that people would know I was pregnant without my saying so. I think I am just starting to develop a sick sense of humor in my last few weeks!
- Why does it bother me a little when someone refers to pregnancy as a "condition"? A man on the bus this morning made a comment about my "condition" and it just got me wondering, why do people say that? Oh yeah, this was after he said something about glowing. Let me just tell you, it was early in the morning, my head was hurting (this sinus thing is almost gone), I did not have any make-up on and I can tell you without hesitation that I was absolutely not glowing. That comment in and of itself about made me ask him to find another seat!
- On the bus note, is it bad that when I am on the bus I just want to be left alone? I don't know if it is because I am either on my way to work (which has me in a bad mood) or I am on my way home (and in a crappy mood from working all day). All I know is that I do not want anyone to sit beside me, and if someone does sit beside me, I really don't want them to try and engage me in idol chit-chat. I want to either be free to sit there uncomfortably (because of my condition) and read my Bible or sleep in peace. * I know, one would think that while reading the Bible I would be a little bit more friendly.
I am waiting for confirmation on my garage pass, because I will not be taking the bus in March. Between weekly doctors appointments and me starting to get a little crabbier, it seemed like it was in everyone's best interest for me to drive. Well... the cars around me in traffic might not agree, but I can't please everyone!
That is about it, other than the fact that you are in a not so comfortable position today and my breathing is suffering and I cannot adjust to a comfortable position and your movements could be compared to a baby animal trying to break an egg and climb out. Seriously, I am watching this happen as I type and think I should get a video camera. Needless to say, I am not having much success focusing today.
Hopefully this all passes before this evening. We are having dinner with Daddy's family to celebrate today's trio of birthday boys (Daddy, Uncle Mike and Grandpa Dan) and at this rate, I do not see myself being a very pleasant hostess!

Weekly Update (34 weeks)
I am very excited about this week's update! Not really because there is anything exciting to report about this week, but because I just left the doctor and have an appointment scheduled on March 2nd for an ultrasound, group B strep test and cervix check! That means 1) I get to see you on "TV" in 12 days, and 2) as the doctor said today, you can come anytime after that!!
As far as this week goes, the appointment went great. You didn't want to stay still so doc could listen to your heartbeat, but it sounded good when we did hear it. He said that at 34 weeks (today) he relaxes because you would be just fine if you decided to make an appearance, which of course calms my nerves. From here on out, we will just roll with the punches. Although, he would really prefer you wait at least two weeks :)
One that note, it would be a good idea for you to actually wait until at least March 9. We are doing some maternity pictures next Thursday and I believe that we will be having a shower March 7 or 8, so we need to make it through all that first!
I don't know if it is just because there isn't really much risk now and so I am able to relax, or what, but it seems like now that we are at the thresh hold, I am not convinced you will try to come super early like I was before!
I discussed my birth plan with the doctor and all looks good. Of course, I am not asking for anything crazy and most of the stuff I will just have to go over with the nurses at the time, not really the doctor. The one thing that he said was that since my first labor went so fast, I probably won't have time to even think about most of the things on my plan. I had already considered this possibility, and I am completely okay with that... I am not one to complain about a potentially quick labor! And it was very reassuring to hear that he thinks it will go fast. Only time will tell on this one though!
I finished up the nursery (except for the name above the crib) last night, and we put together your bassinet. The final load of baby stuff has been washed. Now it is just time to pack our bags, put the car seat in and wait!
Speaking of hospital bags, I saw this post on McMommy's blog last night (funny stuff) and now I have very high expectations for Daddy when I go in to labor (see this picture). So, Daddy... study up, be ready to look handsome and you so have to talk like that!!
P.S. You should be about 5 pounds now! Probably around 17.5 inches or so. Belly pics coming tonight or tomorrow morning.
Updated March 26: Here is a very belated belly pic!! Not in the typical belly pic outfit.
Love you!!

If It Isn't One Thing...
I don't know how many different illnesses I am going to suffer before this pregnancy is all said and done, but man this one takes the cake so far! Here is a run down of our weekend...
Friday I am trucking along, doing just fine and start noticing a cough. No biggie, pretty sure it is just the final goodbye of the cold/flu I had earlier in the week.
Saturday I am doing alright, but that cough seems to have gotten a little more noticeable and I kind of have a runny nose. And I notice myself being extra crabby to more poor little Austin. This is Valentine's Day and we are all supposed to be happy. As the day progresses, my throat is starting to become sore from coughing and I feel like I won't have a voice much longer. I am still convinced at this point that this is remnants of my cold/flu.
And then came Sunday. Man, I had no idea what was coming. I avoided contact with the kids at Sunday School, just to be safe and Daddy decided when he realized how weak I was getting that we weren't going to make it to service. I needed to rest. From that point on, things kept going downhill. I started feeling like I had been punched on one side of my face (not that I actually know what that feels like, but I can imagine now!!). I got to the point where I could not even chew food and could only eat soup. That night, I woke up bawling, a few times, I could not breathe, I kept coughing, and my head felt like it was going to explode or implode. I just wanted to be put under until it went away. Daddy put me in the bathroom and steamed it up and made me hot tea. Then put a vapor thing next to my side of the bed for later.
Monday, I called the doctor first thing in the morning and scheduled an appointment with a general practitioner as instructed by my OBGYN. I made it through the day until my appointment with somewhat tolerable pain. On a scale of 1-10, probably a 6. The night before had been a 10. (Just for reference, I don't think that I even considered my contractions - preepidural at 8cm - a 5) Dr. put me on antibiotics that he swears are safe for you and told me to also take extra-strength Tylenol, Mucinex, and Sudafed. On top of my prenatals, of course! I don't think I have ever taken so many pills in my life!! I was also told to sleep propped up somewhat.
So, here we are Tuesday evening and I made it through Monday night/Tuesday morning without any tears, so I am pretty happy! The only real problem today was a super runny nose and a cough that made co-workers a little worried about me. As the evening progresses though, both seem to be dwindling down. Maybe I will be 85% at least by tomorrow?!
Summary, it was a horrible few days and I would rather go back to the cramping stomach bug than feel like I my head is going to implode/explode and not be able to do anything about it.
Oh yeah, according to the doctor (after Daddy had already diagnosed me) my cold/flu had become a (non-contagious) sinus infection! I had no idea how painful those were and hope to never have another. There was a little bit of an infection in my chest too, but no pneumonia. The antibiotics will help with that as well.
Talk about a fun Valentine's Day weekend in our house!
Let's see if we can make it through the next 2-5 weeks without another illness!

Lots of Pics (33 Weeks)
As I mentioned last week, I colored my hair and had it cut. Of course, I made two major mistakes.
1. I did not listen to Austin (yes, your two-year old brother) and his color recommendation because I was scared it was "too blond". So what did I end up with? What I thought was a slightly darker blond (Medium Golden Blond to be exact) and what was the result?? NO CHANGE! Honestly, I cannot tell a difference. If anything, it is darker than it started out!
2. I drove far away and had a man that has never cut my hair before and apparently doesn't know what symmetrical means cut my hair. I think the word angle was also not in his vocabulary. The desire - an angled bob that was just below my chin and somewhat higher in the back - preferably the same length on each side.
The results... one side is clearly longer than the other, and the back is no shorter than the front, except for maybe two little tiny long strands at the front on either side.

And apparently (according to husband and co-workers) there are a couple random strands of longer hair in the back that don't belong. I don't want to drive back out to him, because it is further than I want to go and he didn't listen to me when I told him at the salon that it seemed uneven. But I also can't go and spend more money to go to my normal salon. So conflicted!
I already posted all of my drama from earlier this week, so there isn't too much to update. You should be about 4.5 pounds now and around 17" long. I go to the doctor again on Wednesday. Not much else to say, you are just cooking and kicking!
I just started thinking the other day (after my 20 lists) that I need to also figure out what kind of music I want on my iPod if I am really planning on having music during labor. Not quite sure what is best in this situation. Might have to Google some ideas! It would be really helpful if you could give some good nudges when you hear something that you like and would like to come into the world listening to. Do I go Classical? Hard Rock (so not me)? Country? Rap (HAHA)? Lullabies? Just one more thing for the To Do List!!

33 Weeks
Cover your eyes and run for the hills!!! It is the bare belly shot!!

To Eat or Not to Eat
I just finished my delicious strawberry and cream cheese danish pop tarts and the whole time I was eating them (and obviously still to this moment), I was thinking about POWDERED DONUTS!
So here I am conflicted. Do I go to the vending machine a couple steps away with my trusty dollar bill that I happen to have in my purse and quench this craving? Realizing that if I do, I am subjecting myself to more cottage cheese (on my thighs). Or do I tell myself that I just had my oh-so-healthy breakfast or just ignore this voice that so desperately wants powdered donuts?
What to do, what to do!!??
I know this is a completely random post. I was just hoping that by taking the time to stop and write about it, the impulsive side of me that was getting ready to go knock over the vending machine and shred the wrapper off so I could scarf them down as quickly as possible would subside. They say that if you want something you should wait. Then if you still want it, get it.
I waited. I still want. I think I am caving. Need donuts NOW!
By the way... 33 week update and picture coming later today!!

Reason Behind My Madness
Yes, there is actually a reason behind my madness. In case you were wondering why I just started posting lists like a crazy woman on a mission, it is because that is exactly what I am right now.
I went to the doctor yesterday because I thought I was having some contractions on Monday and later started experiencing flu-like symptoms. Turns out I was most likely having contractions and it probably had to do with the flu that I was coming down with! Needless to say, I have not felt 100% the past 48 hours.
BUT... the doctor didn't seem too concerned by the contractions and told me to stay hydrated and that should help and that in 2.5 weeks he will not do anything to prevent labor. TWO AND A HALF WEEKS??!!! I am not ready for you to come in 2.5 weeks!! He guessed that I probably have no more than 5 weeks left.
Soo... here I am trying to get my head around what is left to be done and do it as quickly as possible. As I have mentioned in the past, for me that means making lists!

Birth Plan (First Draft)
I'd like the following people to be present during labor and/or birth:
Partner: Ben
Relatives: Janet. If possible, I would also like my mom to be there.
I'd also like:
To bring music
To dim the lights if possible
To wear my own clothes during labor and delivery (still thinking about this one, not sure what I would wear - but the gown is not my preference!)
To take pictures and/or film immediately after delivery
Once I'm admitted, I'd like:
My partner to be allowed to stay with me at all times
Only my practitioner, nurse, and guests present (i.e., no residents, medical students, etc.)
To eat if I wish to
To walk and move around as I choose
I'd like to try the following pain-management techniques:
Breathing techniques/distraction
Massage
Please don't offer me pain medication. I'll request it if I need it.
If I decide I want medicinal pain relief, I'd prefer:
Regional analgesia (an epidural)
When it's time to push, I'd like to:
Be coached on when to push and for how long
I'd like to try the following positions for pushing (and birth):
Semi-reclining
Side-lying position
Or whatever feels right at the time
I'd like:
To view the birth using a mirror if available (I think)
After birth, I'd like:
To hold my baby right away, putting off any procedures that aren't urgent
To breastfeed as soon as possible
My partner to cut the umbilical cord
