My Little Athlete

We all know your brother loves anything to do with sports. Thank goodness because I sure didn't do anything to encourage that while I was pregnant with him. I was always on the sidelines watching and cheering (or reading a magazine)! That must have come from daddy.

Lately, however, I have really been trying to step up and learn to play some sports. And much to my surprise, I love it! Unfortunately, I am not that good at most of them yet. Hopefully that will change over time as I continue to play, but right now my skills are minimal.

Yesterday was an interesting day for me. I spent all afternoon playing water volleyball (which I don't think I have ever played - nor have I played much regular volleyball) and much to my surprise, I was not half bad. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't amazing or anything, but my expectations for myself when it comes to sports are very low!

The evening was filled with softball. Don't worry, I made it clear that I could bat and play outfield, but not be in any positions that would have me putting my angel in danger. They wouldn't even let me run the bases, just to be safe! Anyhow, I was even more shocked with my performance here. I was catching and throwing like never before. Out of my three at-bats, I only struck out once. The other two times I made it to base once and barely got out the other time.

All I can figure is that it has something to do with my little bun in the oven. I will be incredibly shocked if you don't come out ready to play some sort of sport!

1, 2, 3... I'm Pregnant

Okay, so my cute plan to tell the moms backfired when they didn't get it. I had them together for a picture and I said "okay, one, two , three I'M PREGNANT" and had planned to get a picture of their excitement. All I got were typical smiles. Why, because they didn't realize I was serious!! They thought I was just being cute, like saying "cheese." Oh well, lesson learned! I should have just stuck with the original plan of sending out my cute blog... next time I will tell your daddy that I am in charge and I am going to do it my way!

Now that the moms, dads, brothers and sisters all know, the cat is completely out of the bag. We are shouting it from the roof tops to anyone that cares. Almost! I haven't told my boss or co-workers just yet. I am sure that will come soon. Just waiting on a staff meeting so I can actually see my boss in person to tell him.

Well, there may be one secret still. If you are a boy or a girl! I am just not sure if I should find out or not... or if I should find out and not tell anyone. That one would be rather difficult. So, that is still up in the air!

A Raisin in the Sun

I don't even know you yet and already I love you so much that I am changing my ways for you. I have given up my Diet Dr. Pepper that I virtually lived on and could not function without - and now I am drinking more water than my body knows what to do with. I have started drinking weird V8 Fusion drinks that contain a serving of vegetables and a serving of fruit in every glass.

Right this very moment, I am eating raisins! That might not seem so strange to you, since you don't know me yet, but that is not your mommy at all. I would never have given up that half of a chocolate chip cookie last night to instead eat apricots. I would typically be eating candy or powdered donuts and would never even consider raisins, apricots, or prunes.

Maybe, by the time you are old enough to read this, I will have forever changed my ways and stopped being a finicky eater. Maybe the mommy that you know will always eat her fruits and veggies just like she tells you and Austin to do.

What Was I Doing Again?

Wow, here we are at exactly four weeks and I must already have "placenta brain" or whatever it is called. I cannot for the life of me hold on to a train of thought, much less a task that lasts more than one minute, or remember to fulfill a simple request I promise someone I will do.

It is so bad that I put your big brother's shoes on the wrong feet last night and didn't realize it until we were at softball and people pointed it out. No wonder he was having trouble walking - although not much more than he usually does!

Positively Positive!

Surprise of all surprises, we passed both tests last night!

We skated through dinner, despite it being extremely drawn out due to a fundraiser at the restaurant, without so much as a peep to Noni and Grandpa Dan!! I thought I was going to give it away at one point. Everyone was ordering drinks and even though I always just order water, this time I couldn't help but smile when I said that I would just take a water. I even through in "I am dehydrated" just to back it up! Wow, I am still shocked they didn't see right through me!

When we got home I tested again. I probably should have waited until this morning because I had so much water to drink throughout the day and at dinner, but I just couldn't! So I tested and the line was absolutely there! No questioning it this time. We are absolutely "with child" and over the moon about it.

It's Positive!! Right??

I am still on cloud nine right now, yesterday was the day we have been waiting on for months. I found out about you!!

I was completely convinced that this would be another sad month. That I would take test after test as I have in previous months, but that was not to be this month. Saturday as the family played before bed and I gave Austin (your big brother) a bath, I started feeling some pains. They didn't last long, but they were enough to make me wonder if maybe my sweet baby was going to be more than just a dream this week.

After church and lunch on Sunday I just couldn't shake the feeling that it was possible and decided that, even though the odds weren't good (I was still days away from when I should have tested), I would go for it. To your daddy's and my joyous surprise a line appeared. Be it ever so faint, a line is a line and it was there!

Now for the test! Well, two tests. One, that line was just so faint... I need it to be a little darker so I can rest easy. I will take another one tonight or tomorrow and then it will be time shout from the rooftops that you are on your way. Two, we have dinner tonight with your Noni and Grandpa Dan and we have to keep this a secret!! That is not going to be easy! Everyone will find out this week, but right now you are my little secret to cherish and smile about all through the day even though no one knows why.
